Linda Ronstadt – Feels Like Home

“Feels like Home” is a song written by Randy Newman for the musical Randy Newman’s Faust, in which Bonnie Raitt sang it. Linda Ronstadt, also involved in the musical, recorded it for Trio II in 1994, but released it for solo album Feels like Home in March 1995. Raitt’s version was released on the musical’s album soundtrack in September 1995. Raitt’s version was also used the following year in the soundtrack to the film Michael. Linda Ronstadt’s original version, with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton, the latter of whom was mixed out of Ronstadt’s original release due to label disputes, was released in 1999.

Pulp – Disco 2000

“Disco 2000” is a hit single by British band Pulp, released in 1995. It reached #7 in the UK Singles Chart. It was the third single from the album Different Class, following “Common People” and the double A-side “Mis-Shapes”/”Sorted for E’s & Wizz”, both of which reached #2.

Joan Osborne – One of Us (live)

“One of Us” is a song written by Eric Bazilian (of The Hooters) and originally released by Joan Osborne. Released in March 1995 on the album Relish and produced by Rick Chertoff, it became a top 40 hit in November of that year. The song is the theme song for the American television series Joan of Arcadia.

Van Halen – Can’t Stop Lovin’ You

“Can’t Stop Lovin’ You” is a song by American hard rock band Van Halen. It was released in 1995 as the third single from their tenth album Balance. The song emerged after producer Bruce Fairbairn asked for a more pop-oriented song. Instead of searching for his archives, Eddie Van Halen decided to write new music from scratch. The song was written by all members of Van Halen and is about everlasting love and friendship. The song pays homage to Ray Charles’ song “I Can’t Stop Loving You”, particularly in the line where Sammy Hagar sings “Hey Ray, what you said is true…”

Simply Red – Fairground

“Fairground” is a 1995 single released by Simply Red from the album Life. The song contains a sample of The Goodmen’s “Give It Up”. The video shows Mick Hucknall driving to and singing at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in Blackpool, Lancashire, that had been closed for the day and had been invaded by a group of his friends and opened up again. The majority of the video was shot on the Pepsi Max Big One and around the park, and some scenes are shot on the Promenade showing the Illuminations in 1994. Filming credits go to the single cameraman, Steven Young.
